Head in the clouds…feet on the ground. 

I’d like to think that I’m a dreamer, but not the super distracted kind (the Capricorn in me would never let me get away with that). Let me explain. I live it up (cuz YOLO) – tattoos, skydiving, roller coasters. I’m also obsessed with movies, books, paintings that most people find ‘out there’ or too depressing. I tend to empathize with tormented artists, and sometimes wish I lived in a Fellini, Godard, or Sofia Coppola film. I like to daydream about traveling to every tropical destination on the planet. And one of the best compliments I could ever receive is being called creative. But at the end of the day…I won’t throw all caution to the wind, no matter how much I’d ever want to. I wish I could be happy not giving a damn about material things or comfort, and I sort of envy people who can be free (in every $en$e of the word), who can drop everything to travel the world and live life not thinking about stress or what others think of them. By the same token, I remind myself that a lot of what we see on social media, is what others want us to see (#perceptions). We don’t even know what’s real or staged! So for the sake of transparency, I admit my life is this thing made up contradictions: fraught with insecurities and a touch of pride, ADHD tendencies peppered with OCD, and yes, paying off debt while balancing a mean shopping habit. But the contradiction that I am actually totally okay with is being somewhat of a creative cynic who’s fond of dreaming and escapism, yet totally aware of the realness of LIFE. And like my very pink sweatshirt says, “THANK YOU,” for listening/reading/escaping/thinking with me.
